This week’s meeting will be our final session before we make a submission to the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform on it.

“Throughout the month of February we took in to consideration the views of a variety of key stakeholders regarding this topic, including the National Transport Authority, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, Irish Rail, Bus Eireann, Rosslare Europort, Port of Cork, Port of Waterford and the International Warehousing and Transport company. Following on from our engagement with these key stakeholders, as well as the Secretary General of the Department of Transport, Ken Spratt and his officials, it is now timely that Minister Ryan appear before the committee to discuss the review.

“Furthermore, we will be engaging with Minister Ryan on the process being adopted by him as Minister and his Department in assessing and appraising projects under this review to renew of the current NDP.

“The National Development Plan 2018-2027 (NDP) sets out a 10-year programme of capital investment aimed at upgrading Ireland’s infrastructure, enhancing economic capacity and promoting balanced regional development, the committee has actively worked on these topics during this Oireachtas term and this upcoming submission is the culmination of substantial engagement by committee members.”
