7 Jul 2021, 16:50

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 8 July, with representatives of Doras and the Irish Refugee Council to discuss direct provision and related matters.

The meeting at 12.30pm will be broadcast from Committee Room 4 of Leinster House and will hear from John Lannon, CEO, and Aideen Roche, Policy Officer, from Doras, and Nick Henderson, CEO of the Irish Refugee Council.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Martin Browne said: “The Committee welcomes this opportunity to meet with these key stakeholders to discuss key issues affecting those in Direct Provision. “Members will also consider a number of petitions on topics including the control of dangerous dogs, unauthorised development on the River Shannon and the extension of Third-level Graduate Programme (Stamp 1G) for non-EEA graduates holding an award from a recognised Irish awarding body to remain in Ireland after their studies.”
