Cathaoirleach of the Committee Seán Crowe TD said: “Restrictions on non-essential international travel eased this week as Ireland joined the rest of the EU in implementing the Digital Covid Certificate (DCC) however there are many questions remaining about the operation of the new system. There have been reports this week of people experiencing difficulties getting through to the Health Department’s Digital Covid Certificate Helpline for answers to their queries. The Committee is also aware of some people experiencing difficulties whose names are in Irish, with certificates being issued with misspellings. The Committee welcomes this engagement today to get an update on the roll-out of the new system including the number of people who have received the certificate to date and the most up to date figures on the number of people vaccinated fully against Covid-19 who qualify for the document on that basis.”
