6 Apr 2022, 16:50

The Committee of Public Accounts (PAC) will hold separate engagements tomorrow, Thursday, 7 April, with representatives of An Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) and the Policing Authority.

The meeting in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will be joined by the C&AG, Seamus McCarthy and will be split into two sessions:

9.30am-12.30pm: Financial Statements 2020 – An Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission;

1.30pm-4.30pm: Appropriation Account 2020 – Vote 41 (Policing Authority).

PAC Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Stanley said: “GSOC and the Policing Authority have separate and distinct oversight roles regarding An Garda Síochána. Following our meeting last week with the Garda Commissioner and his colleagues, the Committee welcomes this opportunity to meet separately with the representatives of both organisations to discuss their accounts, roles and related matters.”

The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

PAC is a standing committee of Dáil Éireann which focuses on ensuring public services are run efficiently and achieve value for money. Further information on the role and remit of the Committee can be found here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
