Joint Committee on Children to discuss the EU Legislative Proposals on the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and with Tusla on the challenges facing foster carers and general foster care issues

The Joint Committee on Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth will meet , tomorrow, Tuesday, 10 May for further Scrutiny of EU Legislative Proposals: COM(2022) 112 on EU Scrutiny decision – Proposal re the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and the instrument for financial support for police cooperation, preventing and combating crime, and crisis management and in the second session will meet for engagement with TUSLA on the challenges facing foster carers and general foster care Issues; and the loss of services provided by Positive Care.

The meeting will be broadcast from Committee Room 4 at 3pm and the discussion will include submissions from:

·       Mr Bernard Gloster Chief Executive of TUSLA

·       Ms Kate Duggan, National Director of Services and Integration, TUSLA

·       Mr Pat Smyth, National Director of Finance and Corporate Services, TUSLA

·       Ms Niamh Doody, Business Manager, TUSLA

Speaking ahead of the meeting Cathaoirleach Deputy Kathleen Funchion TD said “this meeting will give the Committee the opportunity to discuss the EU Legislative Proposals and also in our second session to examine the important issues facing foster carers.”
