The Joint Committee on Health will meet to discuss the proposed new National Maternity Hospital with Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly TD at its meeting on Wednesday, 11 May. The meeting will be broadcast from Committee Room 4 at 9:30am.
The new National Maternity Hospital will be located at the St. Vincent’s Hospital campus, and concerns have been raised in relation to the ownership of the site and any potential religious influence.
Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Sean Crowe TD said: “The Committee looks forward to this discussion with the Minister for Health in order to gain valuable insight into the decisions made regarding the progression of the new National Maternity Hospital. There are important questions which need to be answered around governance, ownership and religious ethos, and the Committee looks forward to receiving clarification on these from the Minister.”
To note: Minister Stephen Donnelly will be the only witness at the Committee meeting.
The Joint Committee on Health has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
