Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform and Taoiseach to resume examination of secondments in public and civil service

14 Jun 2022, 17:30

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform and Taoiseach will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 15 June, to resume examination of secondments in the public and civil service.

The meeting at 1.30pm in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will hear from officials from the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform, led by the Secretary General, Mr David Moloney.

Committee Cathaoirleach, Deputy John McGuinness, said: “In our previous engagement regarding secondments in the public and civil service, we heard from the Secretary General of the Department of the Taoiseach following public concern at the proposed secondment of the then Chief Medical Officer to a university teaching post.

“The Committee believes it is important that the protocols, processes and procedures for the secondment of public and civil servants to other bodies should be clearly laid out. We look forward to exploring this and related matters with Mr Moloney and his colleagues.”

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform and Taoiseach has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.

The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
