Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform and Taoiseach to discuss Public Service Performance Report

21 Jun 2022, 15:50

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform and Taoiseach will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 22 June, to discuss the Public Service Performance Report with Officials from the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform.

Speaking ahead of the meeting at 1.30pm in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House, Committee Cathaoirleach, Deputy John McGuinness, said: “Public Service Performance Reports were introduced in 2016 and are a key tool for Oireachtas Committees to scrutinise spending and discuss evidence-based performance information with Ministers.

"The latest report which was published last month shows how the €86 billion allocated for public services in 2021 was spent and outlines the service levels this provided in each sector. The Committee welcomes this opportunity to examine this report and looks forward to a wide-ranging discussion with the Department officials.”

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform and Taoiseach has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.

The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
