Disability Matters Committee to discuss education and the UNCRPD with the Minister for Higher Education Simon Harris

The Joint Committee on Disability Matters will meet on Thursday July 14th on the topic of Education and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).

The meeting will take place in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House between 11:00-12:30.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Michael Moynihan said: “The UNCRPD Article 24 on Education for those with Disabilities calls for States parties to ensure the realisation of the right of persons with disabilities to education through an inclusive education system at all levels, and for all students, without discrimination and on an equal basis with others, while ensuring reasonable accommodation of the individual’s requirements is provided. We look forward to discussing the future of diversity and inclusion in the education sector with the Minister and Department officials.”
