Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine to resume Pre-Legislative Scrutiny of Veterinary Medicinal Products Medicated Feed and Fertilisers Regulation Bill 2022 with Minister Martin Heydon

Speaking ahead of the meeting at 7pm in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Jackie Cahill said: “This is the Committee’s third meeting to examine the general scheme of this important Bill. Stakeholders have raised significant concerns about the Bill that need to be addressed.

“The lack of competition the Bill could create, the cross-border trade of products and the lack of availability of anti-parasitic medicine, which may in turn cause animal welfare issues, are concerns and the Committee looks forward to discussing these and related matters with the Minister.”

The Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
