Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action to meet in Seanad Chamber with youth representatives to discuss Circular Economy, COP27, and Energy and Climate

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action will meet tomorrow, Friday, 21 October, in the Seanad Chamber with youth representatives for an engagement on the Circular Economy, COP27 including climate and justice, and Energy and Climate.

The meeting will begin at 11am with an address by the Cathaoirleach of Seanad Éireann, Senator Mark Daly, followed by Eamon Ryan TD, Minister for Environment, Climate and Communications, Ossian Smyth TD, Minister of State for Communications and the  Circular Economy, and the Cathaoirleach of the Joint Committee, Brian Leddin TD.

The meeting will then hear from young people before contributions from members of the Joint Committee. Deputy Leddin and Senator Daly will then give closing addresses.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Deputy Leddin said: “This engagement of the Committee with young people in the Seanad Chamber follows on from our previous engagement with youth representatives in June.

“It is very important that the Committee hears youth perspectives on important matters that affect their future such as the Circular Economy, COP27, climate and justice, and energy and climate issues. Members look forward to a useful and productive engagement.”

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action, chaired by Deputy Brian Leddin, has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
