The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 15 November, with stakeholders to discuss sequestration and land management/nature restoration.

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 15 November, with stakeholders to discuss sequestration and land management/nature restoration.

The meeting at 11am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will hear from representatives of Teagasc, Professor Frank O’Mara, Dr. Gary Lanigan and Dr. Lillian O’Sullivan, and Mr. Niall Ó Brolcháin, Research Associate, NUIG (University of Galway).

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Leddin said: “Sequestration, the process of capturing and storing carbon, and land management/nature restoration have important roles to play in Ireland meeting its biodiversity and emissions reduction targets over the coming decades. The Committee will examine a number of aspects to this including blue carbon, carbon farming and peatlands and looks forward to engaging with the representatives of Teagasc and Mr Ó Brolcháin on these and related matters.”

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
