Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine to discuss Horse and Greyhound Fund with Minister McConalogue

The Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 23 November with the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue TD, to discuss the draft Horse and Greyhound Fund Regulations 2022.

Speaking ahead of the meeting at 5.30pm in Committee Room 3 The Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 23 November with the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue TD, to discuss the draft Horse and Greyhound Fund Regulations 2022.

of Leinster House, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Jackie Cahill said: “The horse and greyhound racing industries provide jobs, generate revenue and play an important role in Irish sport at home and abroad. Ongoing financial support from the State through the Horse and Greyhound Racing Fund is pivotal to the viability of both industries.

“Budget 2023 allocates €91 million for the Horse and Greyhound Racing Fund, with 80 per cent going to Horse Racing Ireland (€72.8m) and 20 per cent to Greyhound Racing Ireland (€18.2m). The Committee looks forward to engaging with the Minister on how this exchequer funding will contribute to the continued survival and development of these sectors.”

The Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
