The meeting will take place in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House between 09:30-12:30.

The following witnesses are due to appear:

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Denis Naughten said: “We welcome the opportunity to resume pre-legislative scrutiny of this important Bill with representatives from Insurance Ireland and the ESRI following previous discussions with representatives from Ibec, Irish Life and the Pensions Authority.”

The General Scheme of the Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings System Bill 2022 would serve to increase an individual’s pension provision and support all citizens in achieving a good standard of living in retirement.

The General Scheme assumes a scope of people in formal employment between 23 and 65 years of age and with an income of more than €20,000 annually.

This is a complex piece of draft legislation and we must ensure there are not unintended consequences, and that fairness and flexibility can be built into this Bill. We look forward to examining all the issues and feedback from stakeholder groups that have appeared before us and discussing how this Bill will impact a diverse cohort of people.”
