Joint Committee on Public Petitions to meet with Ombudsman Ger Deering to consider 2021 annual report

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 16 February, with the Ombudsman, Ger Deering, to consider his office’s 2021 annual report, and related matters.

The meeting at 1.30pm in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House will also consider petitions from members of the public.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Martin Browne said: “The Committee welcomes this opportunity to meet with Ger Deering to discuss the Ombudsman’s 2021 Annual Report. Members look forward to a wide-ranging discussion on the issues it raises and related matters.

“We will also discuss a number of petitions from members of the public, including petitions calling for ‘Reform of Insurance for Thatched Heritage Buildings’ and ‘Reopening of Ennis, Nenagh and St John’s Emergency Departments’ and a petition on ‘Mental Health Matters’.”

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions is a standing Committee of the Houses of the Oireachtas and has 11 Members, seven from the Dáil and four from the Seanad.

The meeting in the Committee Room 4 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
