Joint Committee on Autism to resume discussions on Autism Policy

The Joint Committee on Autism will meet at 11am tomorrow, Tuesday, 16 May, to resume discussions on Autism Policy with stakeholders.

The meeting will hear in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House will be split into two sessions:

11am – Adam Harris, CEO, AsIAm;

12.30pm – Representatives from Irish Planning Institute (IPI), Dr Seán O’Leary MIPI, Senior Planner; Mr Brendan Allen FIPI, Hon Treasurer; Ms Emma Flanagan MIPI, Convenor Practice Committee.
Representatives from National Disability Authority, Dr Gerald Craddock, Chief Officer, Centre for Excellence in Universal Design (CEUD) and Standards and Monitoring; and Ms Mary Tallant, Senior Standards and Monitoring Officer.

Committee Cathaoirleach Senator Micheál Carrigy said: “The Committee is delighted to hear again from Adam Harris, who is CEO of AsIAm and an advocate for autistic people and their families. Members also look forward to hearing from the Irish Planning Institute and the National Disability Authority on how we can make the built environment and public space more autism friendly.”

The Joint Committee on Autism has 13 Members, eight from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.

The meeting in Committee Room 4 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
