Joint Committee on European Union Affairs to meet with British Ambassador for discussion on future of EU-UK relationship

Speaking ahead of the meeting at 10am in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Colm Brophy said: “The post-Brexit relationship between the EU and UK is governed by the Withdrawal Agreement and the Trade and Cooperation Agreement, while the Windsor Framework covers the trade issues specific to Ireland and Northern Ireland.

“It is hoped the conclusion of the Windsor Framework in particular can lead to a reset in the relationship between the EU and UK given how important this is to peace and prosperity on the island of Ireland. The Committee welcomes this engagement with Ambassador Johnston and looks forward to wide-ranging discussion on these and related matters.”

The Joint Committee on European Union Affairs has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
