Joint Committee on Health to meet for further consideration of the Report of the Review of the operation of the Health (Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy) Act 2018

The meeting will hear from Ms Marie O’Shea BL, who will be accompanied by Dr. Catherine Conlon and Dr. Deirdre Duffy.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Seán Crowe said “we meet tomorrow for further consideration on the Report of the Review of the operation of the Health (Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy) Act 2018. Our previous meeting was an opportunity to assess the Report, particularly in relation to how the current system is working and how it can be improved.

We are anxious to see that the legislation is working as was intended, and that women needing to avail of services for the termination of pregnancy should be able to have access to those services without undue restrictions or obstacles.

I hope that the meeting will enable the Committee to conclude its consideration of the Report."
