The Joint Committee on Health will meet on Wednesday, 15th November for consideration of the awareness, prevention and services for the treatment of sepsis at 9:30am in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House.
The meeting will hear from representatives from:
- End Sepsis
- Irish Sepsis Foundation
- Lil Red’s Legacy
- Health Service Executive
Speaking ahead of the meeting Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Seán Crowe TD said ““We look forward to meeting the stakeholders attending tomorrow on this very serious infection. We know now that the most effective way to reduce mortality from sepsis is by prevention, early recognition and treatment. We will use our engagement tomorrow with the organisation and individuals attending to hear of their experiences of the illness and the response that they wish to see. We will also hear from the HSE of the response of the health services to sepsis and how it is hoping to reduce its incidence and impact in the community and hospitals.”
The meeting in Committee Room 2 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
