22 Nov 2023, 12:28

The Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement will meet on Thursday November 23rd for a discussion on the all-island economy.

The meeting will take place between 10:00-12:30 in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House.

Representatives from the Nevin Economic Research Institute, Paul Mac Flynn, Co-Director and Dr. Tom McDonnell, Co-Director will appear at the Committee.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Fergus O’Dowd said: “We welcome the opportunity to discuss the all-island economy with representatives from the Nevin Economic Research Institute.”

"The NERI is a think tank based in Dublin and Belfast carrying out research on both economies on the island of Ireland. Their mission is to produce research that will guide and inform policies that lead to the creation of a sustainable and inclusive economy in both jurisdictions.

“The NERI are currently developing such an economic model and policy framework for both economies on the Island that accounts for ageing populations, climate change, deglobalisation and technological disruption."

“We look forward to discussing these and other related matters with representatives.”
