The Joint Committee on Disability Matters will meet on Wednesday March 6th to resume its discussion on progressing disability services.

The meeting will take place in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House between 17:30-20:30.

The following representatives are due to appear:

  • Representatives from Health Service Executive (HSE), Bernard O’Regan, Assistant National Director, Disability Services & John Fitzmaurice, Chief Officer, CHO West;
  • Ann Bourke, National Service Improvement Lead, Children’s Disability Services & Dr Rosie Gowran, Clinical Lead, National Clinical Programme for People with Disability.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Michael Moynihan said: “We welcome the opportunity to discuss progressing disability services for children and young people. This Committee has heard testimony from several witnesses regarding the HSE falling short with services that children and families need.”

“In October 2023 the HSE launched the Roadmap for Service Improvement 2023 – 2026, Disability Services for Children and Young People. While implementation of the Roadmap was impacted by industrial action, it is envisaged that the implementation of all of the 60 measures in the Roadmap will be fulfilled with regard to recruitment of key posts, delivery of services and more supports.”
