The Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement will meet on Thursday March 7th with representatives from Shared Island Unit, Department of the Taoiseach.

The meeting will take place in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House between 09:30-12:30.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Fergus O’Dowd said: “The Shared Island initiative which has been in existence since 2020 is taken forward on a whole-of-Government basis by Ministers and their Departments and Agencies, working with Northern Ireland and UK counterparts.”

“A range of new funding allocations was announced last month by the Government as part of the Shared Island initiative to deliver cross-border investment and cooperation.”

“The return of the power-sharing Executive and the Northern Ireland Assembly last month is hugely important for Northern Ireland and for what can be achieved through the Good Friday Agreement and provides an improved context for taking forward the Shared Island commitments.
