10 Apr 2024, 17:35

The Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement will meet on Thursday April 11th to discuss legacy issues.

The meeting will take place in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House between 10:00-12:30.

Raymond McCord and representatives from McIvor & Farrell Solicitors, Paul Farrell, Solicitor Advocate and Ciaran O’Hare, Solicitor will appear at the Committee.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Fergus O’Dowd said: “We welcome the opportunity to meet with victim’s campaigner Raymond McCord, whose son was murdered by the UVF in 1997.”

“Earlier this year the coroner in the inquest into the death of Raymond McCord jnr ruled that it will not be possible to conclude it before May 1st, 2024. This is one of several Troubles inquests which will not be completed under the UK’s Legacy Act.”
