The Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 8 October, to resume discussions on the revised National Planning Framework with officials from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
Ahead of the meeting at 3pm in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Steven Matthews said: “The Committee met with officials from the Department in July to discuss the National Planning Framework, which is the Government’s strategic plan for shaping the future growth and development of Ireland out to 2040.
“The NPF is of vital importance to achieving balanced sustainable development and population growth across the regions. It aims to guide public and private investment, to create and promote opportunities for people, and to protect and enhance the environment.
“At that meeting in July, the public consultation on the revised NPF was ongoing and the Committee agreed to meet with the Department officials again in October once the consultation had been completed to conclude discussions on the updated planning framework. The Committee looks forward to hearing from the officials on the outcome of the public consultation and related matters.”
The Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
