Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach to meet with representatives of Central Bank of Ireland for update on financial matters

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 9 October, at 1.30pm in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House with representatives of the Central Bank of Ireland, led by the Governor, Gabriel Makhlouf.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy John McGuinness said: “The Committee welcomes this opportunity to meet with the Governor and officials from the Central Bank for a regular update. Among the matters for discussions are the Central Bank's role with the Consumer Protection Code, the reported renewal of an agreement to facilitate the sale of Israeli Sovereign bonds, reports of potential mis-selling with regard to inflated interest rates on car
purchase deals and the practice of Discretional Commission Arrangements (DCAs),.

“Other areas for discussion are Belfry Funds, Compliance with Trustee Regulations, the Credit Servicer’s Directive and General Banking Matters. The Committee looks forward to discussing these and related matters with Governor Makhlouf and his colleagues.”

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
