The Oireachtas Library & Research Service constituency dashboards provide an interactive online visualisation of Census 2016 data for each of the Dáil constituencies.
The dashboards enable you to create profiles of your constituency based on 2016 Census returns.
You can browse constituencies under six themes: demographics; economics status & work; households & housing; transport; education; and families. Within each theme you can select different indicators to display data on aspects of the theme. You can drill down further into the data, creating comparisons within constituencies between electoral districts. You can export graphs, maps and charts.
The constituency dashboards are best viewed in Firefox or Chrome, but are supported in all browsers.
Oireachtas Members and staff who use Internet Explorer need to adjust their browser settings by following these instructions.
The dashboards are best viewed on desktops, laptops and tablets.
The dashboards are currently under development and this release is a beta version. The dashboards will be officially launched by the L&RS in early 2018.
Watch and learn about the original L&RS constituency dashboards project which was based on Census 2011 data. The beta version of the dashboards on the Oireachtas public website contains updated Census data. An updated video will be made available when the 2016 dashboards are officially launched in early 2018.
Where does the data come from?
The data behind the constituency dashboards is taken from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) Census 2016 releases. The dashboards reflect changes to Dáil constituencies on foot of the Constituency Commission Report 2017, Dáil and European Parliament Constituencies.
The L&RS has selected indicators thought to be of most interest to Members.
While we have made every effort to ensure the data behind the dashboards is correct, there is a possibility that errors have been made. If you would like to bring anything to our attention, please email us.
While the L&RS welcomes comments and suggestions we are not in a position to respond to individual emails.
