Vol. 3 No. 29

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - ATHY LABOURER ARRESTED.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that Martin Simpson, labourer, of Athy, Co. Kildare, was arrested on the 28th February, 1923, and is at present detained in Carlow, and whether any charge has been preferred against him, and to ask that his case be inquired into with a view to release, as his wife and family of six children are badly circumstanced as a result of his detention.

Simpson was arrested for intimidation in connection with the Athy labour dispute. He has not been formally charged. The advisability of releasing him is being inquired into.
