Vol. 5 No. 18

REPORTS LAID ON THE TABLE.

Before we proceed to the Orders of the Day. I would like to raise a question, which I raised last week, in regard to the circulation of certain reports. The President said that one of these reports— the report of the Canal Commission— was then being printed and would be available in a week. I notice it was down yesterday as having been placed upon the Table, and I would like to know will copies be available and circulated to Deputies?

It will be circulated, certainly, before the end of the week. There may have been some delay in supplying the necessary number of copies, but a certain number of copies are available, and I take it that the reason they were not put upon the Table is that the full number was not available. But they will be circulated before the end of the week.

The reason I asked is that the Bill introduced by Deputy Johnson, that is the Transport and Communications Bill, is to be discussed this evening, and obviously the one has very close connection with the other, and were it at all possible it would be most desirable that Deputies should have copies of the Report before 7 o'clock, when this Bill will come on.

On yesterday's Order Paper it was stated that this particular Report was laid upon the Table, which means that it was available in the Committee Rooms for Deputies. The question whether a promise was made to circulate the Report to Deputies is one of which I have no recollection, but it is available in the Committee Rooms at the present time.
