Vol. 6 No. 15

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - LOSS OF REGISTERED LETTER.

DOMHNALL O MUIRGHEASA

asked the Postmaster-General if he will state his reasons for refusing to compensate Mr. Joseph O'Meara, The Hostel, Abbey Street, Tipperary, for a registered letter containing £4 10s. which was lost on the 21st December, 1923?

As stated on the back of every certificate of posting issued, and in the current edition of Eoluidhe an Phuist, compensation in respect of the loss of a registered packet containing Bank Notes, Currency Notes, etc., is payable only if particulars sufficient for their identity can be furnished.

Mr. O'Meara is unable to furnish the necessary particulars in the case of the contents of the registered letter in question, and his claim for compensation cannot, therefore, be entertained.
