Vol. 6 No. 18

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS ORAL ANSWERS. - ATHLONE PENSION CLAIM.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that Driver James Alfred Hayes, late National Army, was mortally wounded in the Glasson Ambush on August 25th, 1922, and died in the Athlone Military Hospital on August 31st, 1922, and whether, in view of the fact that the deceased Volunteer was the chief support of his mother, Mrs. J. Hayes, Glasson, Athlone, the Minister will expedite payment of a pension to her.

I am aware of the circumstances in which James Alfred Hayes met his death. The necessary procedure in connection with the claim for pension is now practically completed, and the case will be settled at an early date.
