Vol. 6 No. 18

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS ORAL ANSWERS. - CLAIM FOR HIRE AND REPAIR OF MOTORS.

asked the Minister for Defence whether his attention has been drawn to the accounts owing to Sergeant Whelan, Transport, Naas Barracks, all duly certified by responsible officers, for the hire and repair of motors between November, 1921, and June, 1922; and whether he is aware that no money has been received by the Sergeant in payment of same up to date.

Accounts amounting to £31 18s. 6d., covering the period March to June, 1922, have now been received from Sergeant Whelan. Deductions in respect of overcharges amounting to £5 17s. 4d. are being made and a cheque for the balance is being issued at once.

An account has also been received for £26 8s. 9d. in respect of repairs to a motor car in November, 1921. It is not possible to have this account discharged at present.

May I draw the Minister's attention to the fact that in a previous reply he gave me on the subject he stated that a cheque had been sent to Sergeant Whelan? Sergeant Whelan came to me two days ago and stated that he had received no money whatever. Will the Minister see that this money is sent immediately to this man, as he is in urgent need of it?

Can the Deputy give me the date of the previous reply?

That can be got.
