Vol. 7 No. 16

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CLAIM BY DECEASED SOLDIER'S MOTHER.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that Mrs. Sarah Dempsey, of Skerries, Kilmead, Athy, Co. Kildare, has not received a pension or gratuity in respect of her son, Volunteer James Dempsey, who died in the Curragh Military Hospital on the 27th March, 1923, as a result of typhoid fever contracted whilst serving in Poolmooney Camp, Co. Wicklow; and whether he will have this claim sympathetically considered, as Mrs. Dempsey has to provide for nine children, all under 14 years of age.

I regret that I have no power to award a gratuity to Mrs. Dempsey. Payment of dependent's allowance to Mrs. Dempsey at the rate of 7s. per week was continued from March to 10th November, 1923.
