WRITTEN ANSWER. - WESTMEATH CLAIMS.

asked the Minister for Defence if the claims of Mr. James Foye, Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath, for £72 7s. 0d. have as yet been considered, and, if not, if he will have them investigated with a view to an early settlement, as Mr. Foye is in need of the money.

Claims amounting to £90 11s. 6d. have been received from Mr. Foye. Of this amount items totalling £54 5s. 0d. fall to be considered under Section 5 of the Indemnity Act, 1924, and have been transmitted for attention to the Secretary, Claims Committee (Indemnity Act, 1924), Department of Finance. The balance of £36 6s. 6d. was discharged by payments of £22 11s. 3d. and £5 on the 7th January, 1924, and the 28th May, 1924, respectively.
