Vol. 11 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DAMAGE TO PROPERTY (COMPENSATION) ACT.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state why a sum of £51 10s. was deducted from the award paid to Edward Mangan, Cloontowart, Lisacul, Co. Roscommon, under the Damage to Property (Compensation) Act, 1923, and paid to the Roscommon County Board of Health in respect of outdoor relief given to the applicant for a period after the destruction of his home.

I was informed by the Roscommon County Board of Health that the relief given to Mr. Mangan was given by way of loan and on the strict understanding that it should be repaid out of any compensation awarded to him. At the Board's request the amount in question was deducted from the award of compensation and paid over to the Board.
