Vol. 11 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - PAYMENT OF AN OUTSTANDING CLAIM (PORTLAOIGHISE).

asked the Minister for Finance if he has received an application from the Portlaoighise Town Commissioners for recovery of £70 expenses incurred on the instructions of the Dáil Local Government Department; if the claim has been submitted to and dealt with by the Committee set up under the Indemnity Act, 1924, and if he can now state when he will be in a position to authorise payment of this old outstanding claim.

The claim referred to by the Deputy was received some time ago and has been referred to the Committee set up under the Indemnity Act, 1924, but the Committee have not yet found it possible to consider the claim.

Will the Minister give an undertaking, in view of the fact that the amount is outstanding for three or four years, to have consideration of the claim expedited?

I will request the Committee to deal with it as soon as possible.
