Vol. 11 No. 21

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - REFUND OF INSURANCE CONTRIBUTIONS.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will expedite refund of contributions as provided for in Section 25 of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1920, to Mrs. Julia Dempsey, of Powerscourt, Eyre Street, Droichead Nua, who lodged a claim about the middle of March, 1925.

A claim to refund of contributions made by Mrs. Julia Dempsey, of Powerscourt, Eyre Street, Droichead Nua, was received in this Department on 30th March, 1925. As the number of the unemployment book quoted on her claim was incorrect, inquiries had to be instituted to ascertain the correct number. In addition, the fact that the evidence of birth furnished was in her maiden name made it necessary to obtain a certificate of marriage. The papers have been referred to the local office, Droichead Nua, for this purpose. As soon as the required evidence is received the claim will be dealt with without delay.

Will the Minister see that this woman, who has paid the whole of her contributions into the unemployment insurance Fund and is now nearly seventy years of age, will get the first and second refund of the contributions according to the Act of 1920, section 25?

I presume that when the case has been dealt with, she will get everything she is entitled to.
