Vol. 14 No. 3

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - TRANSATLANTIC AIR FLIGHT.

asked the Minister for Defence if an attempt is to be made by members of the Air Force of Saorstát Eireann to fly across the Atlantic Ocean; if aeroplanes are to be provided by his Department for the purposes of the proposed flight, and, if so, what is the cost of those aeroplanes and their equipment, and whether he thinks that the expenditure of public money for this object is justifiable, and if any material advantage will result to the Saorstát from the expenditure.

I would refer the Deputy to the statement which I made yesterday during the fifth stage of the Defence Forces (Temporary Provisions) (No. 2) Bill, 1925. I have nothing to add to that statement.

I did not hear the statement made yesterday, and I think I have a right to expect an answer to my question.
