Vol. 14 No. 4

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - TRACING A SURRENDERED GUN.

asked the Minister for Defence if the double-barrelled breech-loading gun surrendered by Mr. Patrick Lestrange, Dysart, on September 14th, 1920, can now be traced; whether he is aware that the O/C Royal Arsenal, Woolwich, informed Mr. Lestrange that the gun is in Island Bridge Barracks, and if the gun cannot be traced whether the owner will receive compensation.

I was not aware that the O/C Royal Arsenal at Woolwich has stated definitely that Mr. Lestrange's gun is in Island Bridge Barracks. According to records, apparently, it should be there, but a careful search has, I regret to say, not lead to the finding of the weapon. As to compensation for its loss, Mr. Lestrange should communicate with the UnderSecretary of State, Home Office, Whitehall, London.
