Vol. 14 No. 14

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - COMPENSATION AWARDS.

TOMAS MAC EOIN

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what is the number of awards of sums exceeding five hundred pounds, and of sums not exceeding five hundred pounds, made under Part II. of the Damage to Property (Compensation) Act, 1923, and what is the total sum involved in the awards under each of those heads.

Owing to the fact that a number of awards have not yet been lodged in my Department, it is possible to give the Deputy only such figures as can be calculated from the awards actually under the notice of the Department. Calculating on payments made up to 15th January last, the approximate figures are: Number of awards of £500 and over—540, total amount—£1,200,000; number of awards less than £500—15,000, total amount— £1,250,000.
