Vol. 14 No. 14

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - TIRCONAILL PERSONAL INJURIES CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the reason why compensation was refused to Thomas O'Callaghan, assistant creamery manager, on his claim for personal injuries sustained at the hands of British Forces at Inver, Co. Tirconaill, on April 4th, 1921, and if he will further consider the claim.

The application of the person named by the Deputy was fully and carefully considered by the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee. On the statement presented to them in the application form, and as a result of investigations which they caused to be made, the Committee were satisfied that any injuries sustained by the applicant were not of a serious or permanent nature and that no loss of earning capacity resulted therefrom. They accordingly recommended that no compensation should be paid. I agree with the finding of the Committee in this case and I am not prepared to take the course suggested by the Deputy.
