Vol. 14 No. 14

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - ARMY ACCOUNTS (CO. CORK).

asked the Minister for Defence whether the claim of William O'Brien, merchant, Military Road, Buttevant, Cork, for property alleged by him to have been commandeered by National troops during their occupation of the town in 1922 and 1923, has yet been investigated; and whether he will expedite payment of this claim.

Mr. O'Brien did not make his claim until about two years after the alleged commandeering took place. The evidence he has produced is far from being satisfactory and great difficulty is being experienced in locating the officers stated to have been concerned. Inquiries are, however, proceeding.
