Vol. 16 No. 10

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - SELECTION OF DISTRICT JUSTICES.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state what procedure is adopted in selecting persons for the posts of District Justice and temporary District Justice.

District Justices and temporary District Justices are appointed by warrant signed by the Governor-General, on the advice of the Executive Council. No special procedure is adopted in the selection. In this matter, as in the case of the appointment of Judges to the Higher Courts, the responsibility of selection rests solely with the Executive Council.
