Vol. 16 No. 15

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - WITHHELD PENSION (CLARE).

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state why his Department is withholding an old age pension in respect of Margaret Walshe, Dooraile, Killimer, Co. Clare.

The claim to the old age pension in this case was disallowed on the 15th of May, 1926, on the ground of insufficient evidence to show that the claimant had attained the age of 70 years. Her baptismal certificate was not produced, but solemn declarations from two neighbours were furnished. These stated that they had known the claimant from infancy and had no doubt that she was 70 years. The declarants, however, mentioned no relevant fact in connection with the claimant's life history in support of their belief or opinion.
