Vol. 18 No. 5

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - REFUND OF INSURANCE CONTRIBUTIONS.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will state the reasons for the delay in the payment of refund of contributions as provided for under Section 25 of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1920, and Section 2 of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1926, to John Bermingham, aged over 60 years, of Naas, County Kildare (Serial No. of application 9, Droichead Nua Branch Office) whose application was sent in last October, and whether he will expedite payment.

John Bermingham of Naas, Co. Kildare, lodged a claim to refund under Section 25 of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1920, at Droichead Nua B.E.O. on 2nd October, 1926. This claim has been disallowed as the insured contributor has not satisfied the necessary conditions. The claim is, however, at present being considered under the provisions of Section 2 of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1926, and it is hoped that a decision will be arrived at in the course of the present week.

While all possible steps are being taken to deal with such claims as expeditiously as possible, delay is inevitable owing to the very large number of applications to which the provisions of Section 2 of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1926, necessarily gave rise.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will state the reasons for the delay in the payment of refund of contributions as provided for under Section 25 of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1920, and Section 2 of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1926, to Patrick Gray, aged over 60 years, of Naas, County Kildare (Serial No. of application 8, Droichead Nua Branch Office), whose application was sent in last October, and whether he will expedite payment.

Patrick Gray, of Naas, Co. Kildare, lodged a claim to refund under Section 25 of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1920, at Droichead Nua Branch Employment Office on 2nd October, 1926. This claim was disallowed as the insured contributor had not satisfied the necessary conditions. It was then considered under the provision of Section 2 of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1926, and payment was made on 9th instant.
