Vol. 28 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - William Brabazon Estate (Westmeath).

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state what steps have been taken by the Irish Land Commission to acquire the estate of Mr. William Brabazon, situated at Crule, Loughnavalley, Westmeath, and consisting of about 600 acres; and whether he is aware that the owner of this estate owns 1,100 acres of land in this congested area.

Proceedings have been instituted under the provisions of the Land Act, 1923, for the acquisition of the lands of Croughal, containing 429 acres. These lands were published in a provisional list of lands which, if not excluded in consequence of a valid objection, will become vested in the Land Commission on the appointed day.

The owner has objected to the acquisition of these lands, and his objection is pending for hearing before the Court of the Irish Land Commission.

The Land Commission is aware that this owner holds altogether approximately 1,100 acres.
