Vol. 28 No. 10

Written Answers. - Jordan (Claremorris) Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he is aware that the Jordan Estate, Clonmore Upper, Ballyfarnagh, Claremorris, Co. Mayo, was acquired by the Congested Districts Board in 1916; that the estate is not yet vested, and that the tenants are still paying interest in lieu of rent instead of annuity, and if he will state when this estate will be vested, and if the tenants will be refunded the money paid in excess of annuities during the past thirteen years.

The estate of J.D. Jordan, Clonmore Upper, was vested in the (late) Congested Districts Board on 9th May, 1918, and the tenants thereon are paying abated rents. Owing to the great pressure of urgent work on other estates, it is not possible to say when the Land Commission will be in a position to deal with the re-sale of this estate. The reply to the concluding portion of the question is in the negative.
