Vol. 33 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Funds of Agricultural Colleges.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether Albert College, Glasnevin; Clonakilty Agricultural College, Athenry Agricultural College, or the Munster Institute receives any financial aid, subsidy or grant from any source other than money voted by the Oireachtas; and, if so, what is the annual amount of same.

Mr. Hogan

The Agricultural Schools and Farms at Athenry and Clonakilty and the Munster Institute, Cork, are maintained solely out of the funds provided by the Oireachtas.

As to the Albert Agricultural College, I understand that the Faculty of Agriculture at University College, Dublin, receives an annual grant not exceeding £1,100 from the Empire Marketing Board for special research work carried out at the Albert College. I am not aware that that College receives other financial assistance of any kind beyond the money provided by the Oireachtas.
