Vol. 33 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Tram Service

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether arrangements will be made for an adequate tram service for the City of Cork by the Cork Electric Lighting Co., Ltd., when the company is taken over by the Electricity Supply Board; and whether in the event of the tramway service being discontinued, the Minister can make arrangements to give alternative employment or procure compensation for men rendered unemployed by the discontinuance of the tram service.

I have not been notified of any proposal to discontinue the tram service in Cork which, so far as I am aware, will be maintained. The last part of the question, accordingly, does not at present arise.
