Vol. 34 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Co. Meath Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state if it is the intention of the Land Commission to take steps with a view to acquiring the following lands:—Clashford, Naul, Co. Meath; Recastown, Clonalvey, Garristown, both in the possession of Dr. Poleman Markey, now resident in U.S.A.

I have had considerable difficulty in tracing this case, but I presume the Deputy refers to lands in the possession of Dr. Edward Markey Pullen. Dr. Pullen is tenant of a holding on the Gormanstown Estate, Townland of Grange, containing 183a. 3r. 14p., in respect of which proceedings are pending under the Land Act, 1923. This holding was included in the provisional list published in this matter on the 17th December, 1929, and will be retained by the Land Commission.

An inspector will be instructed to visit this property and when his report is received the question of resumption will be considered by the Land Commission.

The other lands to which the Deputy refers appear to comprise the 2 holdings on the Townland of Naul, containing 170 acres and 78 acres purchased under the Land Purchase Acts and of which Dr. Edward Markey Pullen is the registered owner. There are no proceedings pending in the Land Commission for their acquisition under the Land Act, 1923, and there is no intention at present to acquire them.
