Vol. 35 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Co. Tipperary Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he has received a resolution from the people of Cappawhite, Donohill, and the surrounding districts, which was passed at a meeting held in public, requesting the Irish Land Commission to purchase for distribution amongst a big number of uneconomic holders and landless men, the two farms put up for sale by the representatives of the late Mr. W. Bagwell Purefoy; and if he will state what steps he intends to take with a view to having those lands taken over and distributed amongst the local small farmers, suitable landless men, and representatives of evicted tenants.

A resolution passed by the people of Cappawhite, Donohill, and neighbourhood regarding the acquisition of two farms held by Mr. Purefoy which have been offered for sale has been received. The matter is under consideration by the Land Commission.

When do the Land Commission expect to take them over?

I do not know. The matter has not been investigated by the Land Commission yet.
